Addressing

Overview

The City of Meridian’s Addressing Team is responsible for maintaining and assigning addresses within its jurisdiction. This includes all properties within the corporate limits of Meridian and the Meridian City area of impact, covering both incorporated and unincorporated territories. Depending on your project's stage, you may be required to complete an address verification.

Parcel Verification

Customers must obtain a Parcel Verification to proceed with various planning applications, such as Certificates of Zoning Compliance, Lot Line Adjustments, and Annexations. The purpose of a Parcel Verification is to confirm that the applicant's requested parcel number(s) is a legitimate, active parcel in Ada County and has an associated address point in MEAD (Meridian Enterprise Address Database). While Parcel verifications and Address verifications share the same prefix (LDAV) there are unique differences between the two applications.

Address Verification

Customers need an Address Verification (LDAV) to apply for building permits, such as for new commercial projects or tenant improvements. The LDAV process ensures that the applicant's claimed project address is accurate, which is crucial for maintaining consistent records, as well as for emergency response and mail delivery. Applicants often misunderstand their actual building address, particularly when it involves suites, making verification essential

A parcel is a defined piece of land with a unique identification number while an address is a structured identifier assigned to a location to facilitate navigation, mail delivery, and emergency response.

When a new address is required—such as for new structures, modified or previously unaddressed structures, or undeveloped land in conjunction with a building permit application—addressing technicians assess the most appropriate address and notify the property owner in writing.

A submission of an Address Verification through our Citizen Access Portal with the required documents including a site plan, vicinity map, and purpose for requesting an address.

Addressing Technicians will notify several public agencies regarding your address change including emergency services. We suggest that you notify any banks, creditors, periodicals and other persons of your new address.

We typically process addressing requests in the order they are received. New requests for addresses take approximately 5 to 7 days, but if we can get to it sooner, we certainly will. It is longer for subdivisions, apartments, and more complex addressing projects. These timelines may be extended if there are complex addressing scenarios or a large influx of projects needing addresses.
